Nanowrimo Virtual - The Mentor Helper In-Person

When everything looks good and sealed up for your character's transformation into an ostrich (you know, the big cartoon kind that hides its head in the sand?), along will come the alien race that humanity has long looked for in the skies. This will be the Mentor, the man so old he looks like he is destined to turn into a tree, perhaps. We all need helpers to force us into greatness from time to time. Sometimes this is a person, other times this is an item. What gives your character the push that they need? A knowledgeable teen crush, or is it WAY out of their league? How about an old beat up army book with a broken spine and scars that tell a story? Remember to make the reason bigger than the draw to stay home in your pajamas. Betraying the blankets is a very dire thing to do. They may never forgive your character when they come back changed.
