Horror Film Fest In-Person

The Monster (2016)
Using a familiar horror trope, the old “car breaks down on an abandoned road at night” cliché, director Bryan Bertino makes the most with his spare cast and tense atmosphere. Zoe Kazan plays a mother who, along with her daughter, must survive an unseen force that’s terrorizing them on a lonely road; and while the titular monster may be the antagonist here, it’s the bond between parent and child that offers the strongest of frights. With exceptional performances and a stripped down story, The Monster reminds us that the best horror doesn’t just scare us, it makes us feel something more.

Due to the explicit and violent content of this film, this is an adults only program.
