The “It” of the title isn’t a creepy shape-shifting clown, sorry to disappoint, but something more sinister – the mounting paranoia and distrustful nature of humanity in the face of an apocalyptic world. For those who are familiar with The Walking Dead and its depiction of suspicion and mistrust amongst strangers, It Comes at Night may offer nothing new – yet it compensates with a tense and unsettling mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Making effective use of its stripped-down atmosphere, It Comes at Night proves that what’s left unseen can be just as horrifying as anything on the screen.
