Fruit Trees in the Low Desert
Growing fruit trees in a city is significantly different from growing them in a rural area. Learn how to avoid common mistakes when planting fruit trees in the low desert. Learn when and how to plant, as well as how to manage your trees through irrigation and fertilization so they survive their first summer. Presented by Steve Sheard, an engineer and a Master Rosarian. Steve was born in Zimbabwe and moved to Phoenix in 1980, where he quickly learned how challenging gardening can be in our unique desert climate. Steve learned as much as he could and today, he has 35 fruit trees from papaya, guava and bananas to apples, oranges, and pomegranates. A free fruit tree will be given away to one lucky participant!
