One World Many Voices: Our People of the South with Xavier Quijas Yxayotl In-Person

Xavier Quijas Yxayotl presents music, stories, and instruments from Native Mexicá. Of the Huichol people of Mexico, Xavier will describe how he built performance replicas of Aztec flutes found only in museums and created his own variations upon those ancient designs. He will perform clay flutes, double flutes, drums, and the eerie death whistle. Questions and answers will follow the performance, led by Dr. David Martinez. Supported by the Arizona Humanities and Friends of the Chandler Public Library. Part of the One World Many Voices exhibit and performance series.

Thanks to the Arizona Community Foundation, our Monsoon Room is equipped with an assistive listening system. If you would like to use this system during the program, please speak with a staff member about borrowing a listening device prior to the start of the program.
